We have no information as to what transpired at today's hearing as of yet. However, two more items went on the docket, a status conference on Nov 19 & more oral arguments on Nov 26
Jodi Arias was convicted in May this year of first degree murder. Her victim, Travis Alexander, had an on-again-off-again relationship with Jodi. When she feared she could no longer have him, she shot him in the head and stabbed him over two dozen times.
It took a jury nearly 15 hours to agree on a guilty verdict. However, when it came time for them to decide whether she would received life in prison or the death penalty, the jury could not come to an agreement, resulting in a hung jury.
The state of Arizona is going ahead with a second shot at the death penalty. A new jury will be chosen just for the sentencing phase.
In the hearing today, Judge Stephens is expected to rule on several motions, which could include:
- Monitoring of the jurors' Twitter accounts
- Sequestering the jury
- Media coverage
- Change of venue
- And most recently, Arias' motion to remove her attorney, Kirk Nurmi.
I will post the outcome of this hearing as soon as it is made public.
